Back on August 4th (my birthday btw) Kat Von D announced a special everlasting liquid lipstick shade on her IG. It was kismet…with it being my birthday and all, and this shade being absolutely gorgeous, I literally I marked my calendar for the release on August 23rd.
The Kat Von D Beauty Everlasting Liquid Lipstick shade, Project Chimps, is the perfect rusty red!
It wasn’t all about the color though…What captured my undivided attention was the purpose behind this limited edition shade. 20% of the sales from the Kat Von D Project Chimps Everlasting Liquid Lipstick would be going to the organization, Project Chimps 💖🐒
Started in 2014, Project Chimps is a 501(c)(3) organization that has spearheaded the efforts to permanently retire chimpanzees used in biomedical research at the University of Louisiana’s New Iberia Research Center (NIRC). Through fundraising, Project Chimps was able to open an amazing 263-acre sanctuary in northern Georgia, surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, and on September 8th, 2016, they welcomed their first group of nine chimpanzees. This sanctuary is going to eventually house upwards of 220 chimpanzees.
This sanctuary is open to educational tours and special visit days throughout the year! Wouldn’t this make for an amazing experience as a family? 💑

So I know this may be crazy to believe but at this point, I hadn’t owned anything from KVD Beauty…I know I know…what’s wrong with me…was I living under a rock?!?! My interest in KVD had slowly been building, especially with the announcement that her entire line of beauty products was going to be transitioning to vegan. I have really been trying to stick to vegan products, which can be tough, even within just cruelty free brands. I have to admit it, now I’m hooked! Since then, I have also purchased the Shade & Light Eyeshadow palette, which is completely amazing 😍
The formula for this lipstick is everything! It sets pretty quickly with no streaks or patchiness, and dries to a pretty ultra matte. Let’s talk about how long lasting this is! I swatched this on my forearm in a heart shape and it was so cute I didn’t want to take it off…It literally lasted for like two days…Yes I did shower silly 😉
I find myself reaching for this shade often because it has been the perfect go-to Fall color and really goes with just about everything. It went to NY with me back in mid-October and I already know I am going to be rocking this gorgeousness on Thanksgiving. I also feel it is perfect for pretty much every skin tone. I haven’t seen a #projectchimps IG pic that wasn’t flattering!

UPDATE: I wrote this back in November as a Grateful November post so YES Kat Von D‘s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Project Chimps is now available again!!!
I would love to find out if Kat Von D has any plans to re-release this shade as it is sold out and no longer available on either the Kat Von D Beauty website or Sephora.com. I would seriously purchase 1-2 more to have as backups!
