As many of you have probably read in past posts, one of my favorite things about being a cruelty free blogger is meeting other cruelty free bloggers. We all have a story behind our mission of sharing the importance of living a cruelty free lifestyle and bringing to light the horrible atrocities that take place in the animal testing of cosmetics, medicines, and lifestyle products. I hope that my words cause you to re-think your stance or opens you eyes just a bit more to living a cruelty free life |
1. How long have you been on your cruelty free journey?
I can’t remember a time that I was not on this journey. I think the most important thing for me has been the gradual evolution of my journey and the knowledge I have gained along the way. I can say that there was a lot of ignorance on my part going back to my adolescence but the more I learned about animal testing the more I was able to fully grasp the issue and understand how I could help give it a voice.

2. What made you decide to go cruelty free?
It wasn’t a true decision so to speak. I didn’t wake up one day and say I am going to be cruelty free. Education has helped me make wiser decisions. I think it was more of a gradual evolution.

3. What has been the hardest product to find a cruelty-free dupe for?
Deodorant! I have tried endless cruelty free deodorants to no avail. I think after I had kids my pH just went berserk and only something with clinical strength works. I just ordered another cruelty free deodorant from Lavanila. I have heard a lot of good things about this deodorant so I am hoping it does the trick!

4. What product or brand do you wish was cruelty free?
It would be absolutely wonderful if Proctor & Gamble or Unilever made the move. It would really be a monumental moment in the cruelty free world. If there was a beauty brand I would keep my fingers crossed for it would have to be Benefit Cosmetics. I was so disappointed when I found out that they sold in China. Now if China would stop animal testing…that would be a huge win for the cruelty free community!

I am going to have to go with Pacifica for skincare and Too Faced for makeup.

6. Name one cruelty free brand someone may not have heard of.
Jacq’s Organics is a great local brand that is starting to really make a name for itself. I have also had the opportunity to try a brand from Pamela Bond, a local skin expert, and her stuff is amazing!

7. Are you vegan? If so, for how long and have you had any struggles? If not, why not?
I am not a vegan. Currently I am a pescetarian. I have never been a huge lover of meat so it wasn’t a big deal to cut it out completely. I still drink skim milk though. I have tried alternatives, but I have not been able to find anything to takes its place.

8. What’s your favorite vegan friendly local venue?
I haven’t really experienced a vegan friendly venue in South Florida. The only one I know of is a restaurant called Sublime, and I have heard pretty good things about them.

9. You have 30 seconds to convert someone to a cruelty free lifestyle. What would you say to them?
What would you do if you saw a child being slowly poisoned or abused? Would you step in? Would you just let it happen? All living things deserve compassion. Why are we causing pain to a living breathing animal for the purposes of vanity? The scientific alternatives to animal testing are far more accurate and consistent than keeping poor animals locked up and injecting, probing, scraping, etc…with chemicals and unnatural ingredients. As a society, it is time to take a stand and say stop! It just doesn’t make sense to continue hurting these poor animals. Does it all come down to money? It is time to start investing our time and energy in brands that care about the world we live in and the living creatures that inhabit it along with us. They deserve just as much of a voice.
