Thankful for Blogger Friends! Tag

So I was actually reading through some of my favorite blogs and saw this tag from Beauty4Free2U by Sissi and I thought it was such a nice way to get to know a fellow blogger.  I commented on her post because we are actually both from Florida and I love to meet other bloggers that are close to home.  She was nice enough to tag me, as I have never participated in a blog tag before:)  She was originally tagged by Karen from KPSAYS so I am including links to both of them if you just click on their blog names.  I have met some amazing women on this blogging journey and I am thankful for how welcoming everyone has been.  With further ado…here goes!

ABOUT YOUR BLOG:

How long have you been blogging? Almost 5 months.

Are there any bloggers who helped you out/encouraged you when you first started your blog?  Not really…I started blogging on my own as a way of expressing myself.  I was really just doing it to have fun and share my experiences with different products and subscription boxes.  I actually started to meet other bloggers online a few months ago and also met other bloggers in my area at a bloggers event about a month ago:)

What Social Media has given you the most traffic to your blog? Is there a platform that you don’t use?  I would have to say that Twitter probably provides the most traffic for me, followed my g+.  I have met bloggers on Facebook but I don’t think it necessarily drives traffic to my blog.  I haven’t really explored Tumblr and don’t really use Pinterest all that often. 

How often do you post? Do you have a regular schedule?  I try to blog 2-3 times a week

Where do you blog?  Anywhere I can!  My favorite place to blog is from my backyard, but sometimes I do blog from the living room or on my lunch break at work.

 What camera do you use? What photo editing software do you use?  I use my iPhone 4s.  I have a camera but haven’t really explored using it for blog pics.  My iPhone seems to work pretty well.  I don’t use anythign fancy in terms of software.  Sometimes I use PicStitch to collage my pics or just the different filters available on Instagram.

How did you come up with your blog name?  My blog name is 2Gen Beauty, which stands for 2 Generations of Beauty.  My 13-year-old daughter is my partner in crime when it comes to everything beauty-related:)  She leans more to the nail polishes and lip glosses, but she is learning about makeup slowly but surely.

Do you do any regular “series” posts on your blog?  I always do the ipsy Sneak Peeks every month and then the Unbagging when my bag arrives.  Aside from that, I usually just try to post about different products, events, and/or experiences related to makeup and/or beauty.  I am also big on cruelty-free brands and products, so I tend to stick to that arena of beauty.

What draws you to a blog?  Usually the topic, or if I like a certain blogger in particular then I tend to always read those blogs.  I also like it when I comment and the blogger comments back, so that keeps me interested in reading their blogs.  I also like cruelty-free blogs.

What turns you off of a blog?  I hate when I come across a blog and the layout is too complicated.  Sometimes it makes it difficult to read when there is too much going on.  I also hate when there is no clear way to post a comment or it’s too difficult to post a comment.  I also hate grammatical and spelling errors…A post should be completely error-free.

How many blogs do you subscribe to? Are they all beauty related?  I subscribe to about 30-40 blogs right now, but that is always changing.  Most of them are beauty related, but there are some that are fashion, DIY, and jewelry blogs.

When do you generally read blogs?  I usually read blogs in the evening after dinner or on my lunch break at work.

What is your favorite type of post, and why?  My favorite type of blog post is usually a product review.  I like to learn about a product in depth before I actually go out and purchase it.

What is your least favorite type of post, and why?  My least favorite type of post is usually when something is just pics and no writing.  I like to read a blog, not just look at too many pictures.

NOW ABOUT YOU!! 

Where do you live? Tell us a bit about your city!  I live in Hollywood, Florida.  We just moved here almost a year and a half ago.  It has definitely taken some getting used to as we have no friends in this area.  We have a downtown area where I have discovered some placed that I will definitely be frequenting! one is a makeup boutique, named Smash Beauty Lounge, and the other is a vintage boutique, named Honey Cat Vintage.  I am in love with both of these places and the owners are super nice.  

What about your home?  My home is a pretty standard single family home.  It was built in the 70’s so it’s not like those cookie cutter communities.  My favorite part of my house in the backyard.  My husband is obsessed with maintaining everything from the grass, to the plants, and the pool, so hey, no complaints here.

Single or taken?  Taken❤. I have been married for a year and seven months, but we have been together for almost 16 years!  Our children were our wedding party.  My daughter was our maid-of-honor and our son was the ring boy.  Our niece was also our flower girl.

Do you have children?  We have two kids…Sophia is my teenager, she’s 13, and Sebastian is my hot stuff 8-year-old.

Do you have pets?  Right now we only have a fish and a turtle, but we are going to be adopting a Pitbull puppy very soon (as soon as I can find one that needs a home).  I don’t support puppy stores, so that is not an option.  As soon as one needs a forever home, we are ready and willing.  

Do you have a “day job”?  I unfortunately do have a day job.  I wish blogging could be my FT job and be a stay-at-home mom, but alas, we need the paycheck.

How tall are you? 5’5″

Do you have siblings?  I have a younger brother.  He’s is almost 5 years younger than me.  We used to be very close, but in April we had a falling out and now we don’t communicate unless it’s about the kids.
