Aqualillies Collection by Tarte-Product Review

I was immediately drawn to the Aqualillies by Tarte Collection when I was looking for my go-to summer makeup inspiration.  I love the premise of the old Hollywood style behind Aqualillies and I had never tried anything from Tarte before so it was definitely a win-win!  I opted for the following items from this classic summer collection:

Amazonian Clay Waterproof Eye & Cheek Palette
Waterproof Eyeliner in Splash (also available in Black)
Amazonian Clay Glamazon 12-Hour Lipstick in Timeless
Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder

The Glamazon lipstick in Timeless did not make a splash with me.  It looks like a deep coral both in the tube, on the website & in the swatch, but for some reason it actually went on the lips in an almost flourescent orange.  I really wanted to love this lipstick but it just didn’t happen.  On the other hand, the waterproof eyeliner in Splash was a perfect 10.  The eyeliner came with a double-ended brush.  One end was straight and the other end was slanted.  The slanted end was my favorite!  It made it so easy to glide the eyeliner and create a perfect cat eye.  The color itself was absolutely beautiful.  Hands down, this was my favorite item in the collection.  The swatch above really doesn’t do it justice.  It is a lovely shimmery aqua that was perfect for the beach, the pool, lounging…literally any summer activity.  It also has excellent staying power, so going to the beach or out on the boat in the South Florida summer heat was a breeze~~*

I also really enjoyed the eye & cheek palette.  It comes with everything you need to create an entire look.  Three cheek colors and 6 eye colors come together to create a multitude of different combinations.

Cheek colors

Amazonian Clay Shimmer Powder in Champagne
Amazonian Clay Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess (matte)
Amazonian Clay Blush in Captivating (a nice matte coral)
Eye colors
Hammock (a matte chocolate brown)
Bikini (a multi-dimensional beige with hints of pink & peach)
Barefoot (a champagne shimmer)
Parasol (a white shimmer)
Sundeck (a matte light brown)
Poolside (a turquoise shimmer)
The pigmentation was pretty good with most of the colors, but I was hoping for more when it came to the turquoise color Poolside.  It did not produce the same color you see in the pan. It was buildable, but not to the extent of what I was expecting…it created a much softer color.  All the colors were smooth and buttery and were easy to apply.  All in all, I was very happy with my selections (except for the lipstick) and would definitely purchase tarte cosmetics in the future.
