5 Delicious Vegan Cookie Recipes for National Homemade Cookies Day

5 Vegan Recipes for National Homemade Cookies Day

Welcome to October and Happy National Homemade Cookies Day!  I love celebrating weird holidays don’t you???  When I saw the 1st of October celebrated homemade cookies I knew it would be fun to round up a few must-try vegan recipes to celebrate such a special day 🍪

It really isn’t difficult to make vegan cookies.  There are so many dairy products on the market to substitute to what we lovingly refer to as “veganize” a recipe.  If you happen across a recipe in your www travels, but it isn’t vegan, don’t give up!  I bet with a little tweak here and there you can make that recipe into something any vegan could love💛 Keep reading to find some tried and true vegan cookie recipes, a few from local South Floridian vegans just like me!

So I’m going to start this super basic with a pumpkin spice cookie😉 I found this recipe on Pinterest and looking at the ingredients it looks absolutely delicious!  Kim’s Cravings is not a completely vegan blog, but many recipes are vegan friendly, can be “veganized” and all are healthy and clean.  These are something nice to make and rather than bringing on a platter, prepack them in cute cookie bags.  A great way to bring something everyone will love this Fall season 🍂

This next recipe was recommended to me by a fellow South Florida vegan, Jac Blades.  This Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe sounds like it has a really interesting complexity of flavor✨ I actually asked her if they had a sweet and savory thing going on, and she said that you definitely sense a depth of flavor, but you can never really pinpoint the existence of the tahini in the recipe.

She recommended this recipe from Hell Yeah It’s Vegan!  I am definitely going to spend some time perusing some of the awesome recipes on this site😍

This next recipe also came recommended by Jac Blades from her own blog, Alabama Strawberry Massacre.  While she doesn’t really post on her blog anymore, her recipes still look amazing!  Her Double Chocolate Chipotle Cookies and her Bourbon Spice Holiday Cookies sound like something fun and different to try over the holiday season!  She even has a Chocolate Peanut Butter Tunnel Cake Recipe that won an Earth Balance Bake Off!
Her Cinnamon Roll Cookies though are definitely something special!  I happen to love cinnamon rolls, but turning that deliciousness into a cookie, is nothing short of genius.  I also think this is a great recipe that can be varied in different ways…guava and vegan cream cheese, pumpkin spice, even peanut butter and jelly would be great alternatives to play with.

The next recipe is something that to me is more a snack than a cookie!  I could probably sit with a box of graham crackers and down the whole thing.  I love the simplicity of it, not too sweet, not heavily loaded withy icing.  I am not a huge fan of icing, as something like that can go overboard real quick, and then it just gets messy having to scrape off the icing that took it too far 😂
I am not one for too much sweetness, as I am definitely someone with more of a savory palette.  These seem like they would be great to spread with a salty nut butter spread.  I found this recipe over at Emilie Eats.

I couldn’t do a cookie round up without including a peanut butter cookie recipe.  As mentioned above, I tend to reach for salty and savory and the peanut butter cookie is all that plus that subtle sweetness fix that makes it a sweet snack.
I would imagine you could also play around with the peanut butter ingredient in this recipe and use almond or cashew butter in its place.  It might take a little tweaking, but both of those sound pretty tasty to me!  I found this one over at The Simple Veganista.  That is another great site to find some delicious recipes so I highly recommend
