The minute I saw Kat Von D’s sneak peek of the Alchemist Palette I knew I just had to have it! Highlighters have been all the rage for quite a while and I was pretty reluctant to jump on the highlighting bandwagon. Don’t get me wrong I would always pop a little on the brow bone but the highlighting craze has definitely been taking it to the next level!
I put it on my wish list and my beautiful daughter ordered it for me after the holiday craze. The Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette seemed way more user friendly than some of the other palettes I saw on the market, plus is was vegan and cruelty free so what could go wrong?!?! Keep reading to check out my thoughts on the KVD Alchemist Palette and whether it really does have magical transforming powers 💖
According to the Kat Von D website, the Alchemist Holographic Palette boasts some pretty bewitching qualities…
“Eye light, face bright—highlight EVERYTHING with the new Alchemist Holographic Palette! Feast your eyes on four magickal prismatic shades, which you can wear solo or layer to your heart’s content.
Kat’s super-special hybrid formula features DoubleDimension Technology: 360° refractive pearls dipped in a prismatic coating, for 2 times the transforming power with every stroke of your brush (bonus: a little goes a long way!). Part highlighter, part topcoat, part transformer, this palette is filled with endless luminizing possibilities: Strobe cheekbones, eyes, nose, lips, collarbone, Cupid’s bow— dust Alchemist literally anywhere you want an extreme iridescent highlight!”
The Kat Von D Holographic Alchemist Palette consists of 4 prismatic shades (4 x 0.05 g each):
The formulation is 100% vegan and cruelty free, as well as, no sulfates, parabens, or phthalates. I was not able to find a full ingredient list on the KVD site but the brand is very passionate about being cruelty free and having transitioned all of her products to a completely vegan status. #VeganAlert 💜
The fact Kat Von D herself is so passionate about animals is really what drew me to the brand in the first place. It was actually the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Project Chimps that totally won me over in the first place and drew me to the brand 🐒 From there I have expanded my collection with the Shade & Light Eye Contour Palette and a few other everlasting liquid lipstick shades.
Personally, I have been gravitating to the opal, pink prismatic, shade most of all (above). Although, I have dabbled with the others on occasion, I feel like the opal shade is the most flattering for my complexion. I find this palette to be incredibly user friendly and very easy to go with a subtle look or a full on Instagram worthy highlighting look.
I think it is the ease of using the shades that really draws me to being a little more open to playing with them. They are super easy to blend out, and totally buildable. I am actually headed to an event later today and I am committed to playing with some of the other shades a bit more!
These shades in the @katvondbeauty Alchemist Face & Eye Highlighter Palette are stunning 😍 From top to bottom: Emerald (green), Saphyre (blue), Amethyst (ultra violet), and Opal (pink) 💚💙💜💖 *** #crueltyfree #vegan #veganbeauty #veganlifestyle #vegantravel #veganlove #crueltyfree #crueltyfreebeauty #crueltyfreefashion #veganfashion #crueltyfreelove #cfblogs #cfbloggers #cfblogger #crueltyfreeblog #crueltyfreeblogger #instalove #travelmust #blogger #greenbeauty #instalove #instabeauty #katvondbeauty #beautythatgivesback #kvdbeauty #alchemist #highlighter #highlighterswatches
One of the coolest things to do with the shades in this palette is to actually use them as transformers, ie layer them on top of of other colors to create new shades altogether! My friend Nnenna, over at Live La Vida Cruelty Free did an amazing job of transforming a lipstick shade into the gorgeousness you see below 👄 I highly recommend hopping over to her page and checking it out because she is one of the coolest and nicest bloggers ever! When she posted this picture on IG, I thought it was a total game changer…and really an inspiration to me being more willing to step outside of my comfort zone when it comes to playing with colors! Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks 😉🐶💖
