So I really wanted to publish this last week on Mask Monday….but a little fender bender in the morning really just throws off your whole week! No worries! All is good:) Just need to play a little catch up! This past weekend my daughter, Sophia, and I wanted to do a little pampering and having just received my new Valentia goodie, how could we resist? Keep reading to see what Sophia and I thought of the Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask❤
If you check out my blog on the regular, then you know I love reviewing masks! New to my blog? Welcome to Lucy’s CFB&L and I am a skincare mask-a-holic;) LOL Recently, I had the opportunity to review a few other goodies from Valentia, their True Glow Eye Cream and Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask (you see I’m addicted!). Check that review out here!
This time around I was excited because I knew this was a mask that came to me at just the perfect time. Sophia has been struggling a little with her skin and I knew that I needed to do some immediate intervention. Her skin was looking puffy and teenage acne had been creeping its way in, so she definitely needed a skin detox. My excuse? Refer back to paragraph two please;)

I have to admit, the key ingredients in this mask are pretty great…the product claims to draw out impurities, improve skin tone, reduce pore size, and firm & strengthen skin.
Ingredients + Benefits
Kaolin Clay: Clay minerals draw out impurities, improve skin tone, and tighten pores for smoother, firmer skin
Plant Stem Cells: Naturally decreases the level of pro-aging toxins and works to soothe the skin, reduce redness, and improve skin tone evenness
Spirulina: A Botanical stimulant full of vitamins that hydrates the skin’s surface and contributes to skin tissue regeneration
CoQ10: Lessens the appearance of wrinkles by reducing free radical damage and stimulating healthy collagen production
Hibiscus & Cranberry Fibers: Both lend their anti-aging properties to firm and reinforce the skin helping to reduce the creation of new wrinkles
Astaxanthin: A powerful antioxidant that repairs collagen production, combats free radical damage, and restores skin’s elastic, bright, and wrinkle free tones and textures
This mask also boasts aloe vera, Vitamin C, rosehip seed oil, ginseng, just to name a few…I said they were pretty great ❤
So on Sunday morning, I looked at my daughter and said let’s do a face mask!!! Of course, she said yes, because, to be honest, I think she may be following in my mask-a-holic footsteps. I grabbed my new Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask and my favorite mask application brush (it’s actually a foundation brush but it works perfectly:)) The mask applied smoothly will a slight texture to the formula. During the time we had the mask on our skin, we felt some definite tingling…it was actually a very cooling sensation as well.
According to the directions, it should be applied generously, avoiding the eye area (pretty typical), and allowed to dry 15-20 minutes. As you can see, it dries pretty light in color, and you can see a slight texture to the mask. This texture is actually natural fibers that help to exfoliate and slough away dead skin cells. Removing the mask should be done using a damp cloth & warm water and using circular motions to activate the natural fibers.

In my case, I love having that weekly skin reset since I am constantly testing out different products, and using my die hard skincare regimen in between. For Sophia though I really wanted to help her get her skin on the right path. We have definitely noticed an improvement in the texture of her skin. The acne is starting to clear up and the painful puffiness has gone down. I am going to have her do this mask again this weekend to reinforce her skin detox:)
What’s your favorite way to enjoy a skincare facial mask? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear all about your own personal spa days;)
