This week’s Mask Monday I decided to do a DIY Mask! As I was making my coffee in the morning, the inspiration just came to me. Putting together my cafe mocha, I thought to myself, “How great would a coffee mask feel?” Each sip of my drink brought me closer to the perfect Cafe Mocha Yogurt Mask recipe!
Ingredients
2 Tablespoons soy yogurt (Silk Vanilla Dairy Free Yogurt)
1 Tablespoon raw organic honey (Honey Tree Wildflower Honey)
1/2 Tablespoon organic used caffeinated coffee grounds (Wild Jo Dark French Roast)
1/2 Tablespoon organic cocoa (Rapunzel Pure Organic Cocoa Powder)
Take all the ingredients and combine in a small bowl. I used my little mini whisk to get a nice smooth consistency. I love applying my masks with a brush and my bhcosmetics foundation brush is the perfect size for even distribution! Leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes and rinse off with warm water using circular motions, I was able to get 2 uses out of this recipe, so I highly recommend having your BFF over and having a girls’ night in! This mask and a few glasses of wine is perfection!!!
Ingredient Benefits
This mask, made up of 4 simple ingredients, provides great skincare benefits.
Coffee contains caffeine which helps reduce swelling & inflammation. Say goodbye to puffy eyes! It also provides the perfect grit for exfoliation to remove dead, dry skin.
Honey is a natural antioxidant with anti-microbial properties, which helps to protect against the sun’s rays (although I would still apply something with SPF on a daily basis). It also helps the skin refresh & rejuvenate depleted skin and absorbs impurities from the pores, which helps with acne. I had my 15-yr-old do the mask too to help with those pesky little outbreaks.
Cocoa is rich in antioxidants, which gives the skin extra protection against free radicals. It also helps reduce redness and aides in the prevention of dry skin.
Last, but not least, is the soy yogurt. Soy is known to help brighten skin, decrease redness, boost collagen production and improve overall skin tone. These anti-aging qualities also help with the thinness of the skin, especially in our older years!
I love how this mask made my skin feel! As I was washing it off, I took my time to really work the mask in a circular motion to help exfoliate and remove all the dead, dry skin. My skin felt exhilarated, smooth and sooo soft!
Have you ever done a DIY mask? If so, what ingredients did you use? Let me know in the comments…I’d love to try out a new recipe!
