So the more I have had to pack in my life, the more I realize that the easiest thing to do is keep it simple (kids included)! When I go somewhere now I am all about the experience and making the most of the time I have with family and friends 💗
Thank you to the Done Family for inviting us to their adorable Florida Keys beach house and really making us feel welcome…LOVE YOU GUYS!
In this post I am highlighting some of the beauty products I took to maximize my look & minimize my time! Please note: This is not ALL I packed…There were obviously the necessities such as toothbrush, toothpaste, underwear, pajamas, etc…but this is what I really packed in my beach bag to spend the day at the pool or out on the water…
First up is a few wardrobe essentials! Literally the only thing missing is a picture of my swimsuit and my flip flops. With these quick essentials you can go from lounging by the pool to heading to the sandbar on the boat, and pulling up to a dockside restaurant for some fresh Florida Keys cuisine…yummy!
To quote Adam Levine from Maroone 5, “This summer’s gonna hurt like a…ahem” (you catch my drift). That is exactly what is going to happen if you don’t wear sunscreen in the Florida sun 🌞
Wearing sunscreen is more than just protecting you from a sunburn…the long term effects of a sunburn can be devastating! I love the No-Ad Sport Sunscreen in SPF 30. The price is right and it is cruelty-free…It doesn’t get any better than that! I like to go a little higher with the SPF on my face and for that I turn to the Cotz FACE for Natural Skin Tones in SPF 40. This tinted formula is almost like a mousse, very lightweight, provides a light coverage and leaves a matte finish. For some subtle (or not so subtle…depends how you roll…lol) sheen, I really like the Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizer. This can be used anywhere the sun hits your that oh-so-popular strobing effect. I also like that I can pop it on my eyelids for some subtle color as well;)
Anyone who lives the salt life can tell you what a toll it can take on your skin & hair! It is important to follow up a mermaid day with some TLC. I am really loving the Luxe de Mer Gentle Face Cleanser. It feels almost like cleansing with a toner, but better ❤ I used this morning & night and my skin felt clean & refreshed. I also live with Evolvh Smartstart Leave-In Conditioner in my bag. I love love love this product!!! This smells so nice and really leaves my hair feeling so soft 🌊
After washing, I spray this pretty much all over and a little extra on the ends. I also carry it around with me during the day for some extra moisturization;) Salt & sunscreen can also dry out the skin pretty bad. I threw the Nubian Heritage Mango Butter in my bag after unboxing my Petit Vour box (along with the Luxe de Mer) and I am so glad I did! This stuff literally melts like butter onto your skin and leaves you feeling so soft and smelling amazing (almost like a mango creamsicle). I was using this on my lips too! Try this on your feet and sleep with socks on and let’s talk in the morning 😊
Just a few highlights from our weekend getaway…It was definitely a family affair 💙
This was right before the boys went out fishing…The Florida Keys life also happens to be the golf cart life…lol 🎣
When the boys were away the girls will play! We took a tour of Outdoor Resorts where my friends have their house and did a little periscoping along the way! Are you on Periscope? Let’s connect…Search for Lucy Valdez or 2genbeauty ⛵
The hubs wearing his new Costa sunglasses! 😎
I love how the salt water & sea air makes my hair look! No sea salt spray needed!
A boat is a must when you visit the Florida Keys. There aren’t many actual beaches but tons of amazing sandbars!
Check out this sandbar! We had to take the boat to get there! This is the SALT LIFE!!!
We love visiting the Florida Keys! From Key Largo all the way down to Key West you just can’t go wrong. Life slows down just enough to notice and take it all in…I think Ernest Hemingway & Jimmy Buffet definitely had the right idea!
