I have to admit, I really underestimated this brand and its products! At first I was like, ehhh, I don’t know…it seems kind of gimmicky 🤔 “the ideal solution to meet skincare demands in the New Normal”?!?! Is this really going to make a difference? We are all doing out best to stay safe and socially distanced, and this means wearing a mask anytime we go out in public and are around other people.
This “New Normal” has taken a toll on the skin of many a person, that’s for sure. A new term has even been born in this world as we know it…maskne! Maskne, or mask acne, involves acne breakouts from wearing a face mask. Fortify+ Skincare was born as the ideal solution to meet the new demands of our skin due to stress, environmental factors, and mask wearing. Keep reading to learn about the volcanic ingredient, Zeolite, its germ fighting properties and how I felt about a few of the goodies they were so gracious to send over 💚
I’d like to quickly review a few VERY key points about this brand before we jump into Zeolite and the products I’ve been able to try….I’m telling you…I was quick to make assumptions, but this brand literally checks off everything on my list! They are cruelty free and leaping bunny certified. Being Leaping Bunny certified is like getting a 5-star rating in the cruelty free community ⭐ They are alcohol free, 95% natural clean beauty…no harmful ingredients, non-GMO, paraben and phthalate free, and hypoallergenic. The cherry on top is that Fortify+ Skincare is 100% vegan!!! I’ll just put that cherry on my vegan ice cream sundae thank you very much 🍒🍨
What is Zeolite?
Zeolite is actually a volcanic mineral that is used widely in the beauty industry as a natural preservation and is also FDA-registered safe for the skin. What is interesting about Zeolite is the mineral’s filtering properties and structure, which make it absorbent and antimicrobial at the molecular level. Imagine a unique array of tiny honeycomb-like chambers that trap pollutants, pathogens, bacteria and microorganisms and keep them away from your skin?!?!
Metaphysically speaking it plays a very similar role 💚 Zeolite is known for helping with the body’s energy attunement, healing response and is especially useful in helping the body release toxins and negative energy. Used in combination with other crystals, it is said that it’s healing and detoxification properties become amplified ✨
In addition to the healing and filtering properties of Zeolite, Fortify+ Skincare products do not compromise on skincare benefits. Some of my favorite ingredients can be found in their distinct formulation.
Aloe Vera – one of nature’s best ingredients & also one of my all-time favorites; helps calm, moisturize and restore skin for a radiance-enhanced look
Hyaluronic Acid – improves skin’s moisture content and strengthens the skin’s barrier; its antioxidant properties also defends against free radical damage and reduces inflammation
My skin especially loves Aloe Vera. It is comedogenic, which means it will not clog pores, and it suggested that it contains as many as 75 potentially helpful compounds, from vitamins and minerals to salicylic and fatty acids. Whenever I am having any kind of skin reaction, my mind automatically goes to applying something with Aloe or Aloe Vera gel in its purest form.
As I mentioned above, it really is one of nature’s best ingredients. It’s like nature’s magic potion! It has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and healing properties…perfect for soothing sunburned skin and applying to minor cuts and scrapes to help heal and calm the skin. It also helps to moisturize dry skin by acting as a humectant. Packed with the antioxidant power of vitamins A, C & E, it helps reduce signs of aging by fighting off free radicals and increasing the production of collagen to help with skin’s elasticity and texture.
Let’s talk about a few of the Fortify+ Skincare goodies I have had the opportunity to test out the last few weeks 🌿
First up is their Purifying + Renewing Facial Cleanser. According to their website, this cleanser “not only deep cleanses, unclogs pores and draws out dirt and pollutants, but it also fights bacteria and illness causing germs that adhere to the face – without drying or damaging the skin.”
I would say this face wash does a great job of washing away the day, as well as, removing all traces of makeup. I hear about so many face washes that just can’t get the job done when it comes to makeup, but this has never been an issue for me. The formula for this cleanser is actually a foam, and a little truly goes a long way…one pump will work just fine😉 It is also not drying in the least. You may have watched my unboxing / first impressions on these products and I did say I felt like it was somewhat drying, but I take it back. After continued use I really think that was all in my head! This face wash left my skin feeling clean, moisturized, and soft.
Next up, and maybe my favorite, is the Fortify+ Moisturizing + Reviving Facial Serum. What a pleasure it is to put this serum on my skin! It is not heavy at all, with a light, gel-like consistency. My skin just sucks it all in greedily LOL! This serum is described to “instantly hydrate and revive skin for a more youthful and glowing appearance.” I will agree really felt like it had a calming, supple effect on my skin.
Most mornings I do not have time to do my makeup prior to leaving the house. Typically I do my morning skincare routine at home, and then do my makeup at my desk before I start my work day. I LOVE applying another layer of this serum to my skin to provide an extra oomph of moisture before going in with my face primer and foundation! It just feels like everything goes on so smoothly 💗
Last, but certainly not least, is the Protecting Facial Mist. As with most facial mists, this one feels AMAZING if you put it in the fridge for a while before spritzing it on! I don’t know if it is just me, but even at room temperature, it almost has a cooling sensation. This could be the natural effects of the Aloe Vera as it is such a soothing ingredient. Described to “freshen your face with a burst of hydration” this mist is also great for setting my makeup and without causing any weird breakdown or droplets on the skin. The mist is fine and the sprayer is not overwhelming at all. The travel size is perfect for on-to-go, so it makes it super easy to spritz and feel extra hydrated throughout the day.
What I would love to see from this brand is more sustainable packaging. The serum is the only product that I received that comes in glass. It looks like the Nourishing + Hydrating Facial Moisturizer may also come in a glass jar, but I can’t tell 100% from the pictures on the site. I will say that moisturizer does sound delicious; it is infused with collagen, and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles!
Aside from those two products, it looks like everything else is in plastic packaging, which let’s be honest, just doesn’t cut it anymore. Plastic recycling doesn’t work, and when it does it is really only getting one more life. Hopefully, as this brand grows, we can start to see it transition to packaging that matches it beautiful formulas!
The brand also carries Hydrating + Moisturizing Sheet Masks, Rejuvenating + Protecting Under Eye Pads, and Cleansing + Protecting Facial Wipes. I’m not a huge fan of sheet masks or facial wipes, but I can get behind some under eye pads! I don’t think I’ve et one I haven’t liked LOL! When I am tired and/or didn’t get enough sleep, under eye pads are a go-to to help alleviate puffiness and dark circles, moisturize and minimize signs of fatigue.
I hope you enjoyed reading this review! I am so glad that I had the opportunity to try out the brand, Fortify+ Skincare, as like I said at the beginning of this post, I wrote them off pretty quickly. They truly impressed me with not only the formula of the products, but they attention to details such as clean, quality ingredients, cruelty free certification with Leaping Bunny, and my favorite – 100% vegan 🐰💚🌻
