Tomorrow is a big day at our local South Florida animal shelters!
August 15, 2015 is officially Clear the Shelters Day!
Both of my furbabies, Sam & Star, came from local South Florida rescue groups.
Many volunteer-led rescue groups work with local shelters, especially when it comes to animals that have been at the shelter for a very long time. Many of the rescue groups will also tell you to check out your local shelters first when it comes to adopting as those babies are more at-risk for euthanasia:(.
Follow all the buzz and share your adoption experiences tomorrow on social media with #CleartheShelters or #DesocuparAlbergues or visit the site www.cleartheshelters.com for more information.
NBC 6 South Florida, Telemundo 51 Miami, and iHeartMedia are teaming up with animal shelters in the South Florida area on a first-of-its-kind pet adoption initiative – Clear the Shelters – on Saturday, August 15, from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.. The Clear the Shelters effort is part of a national initiative spearheaded by the NBC Universal Owned Television Stations division of NBC Universal and pairs local television stations with animal shelters across the country to find new homes for homeless pets. On this national day of action, several animal shelters in the South Florida area will offer no-cost or discounted adoption fees.
