Keeping Skincare Simple with Kate Somerville + #RethinkPlastic Plastic Oceans Pledge 🧜

Kate Somerville Face the Glow Kit

Skincare is definitely one of my obsessions 💛 I love all the amazing ingredients, all the different layers you can create…magical skincare potions really! ✨ Trust me when I tell you I have quite a collection of all kinds of skincare goodies!  While I love playing skincare apothecary, I think there is something definitely to be said for a simple skincare routine.  It is the perfect way to make sure the skin gets all the basics.
Kate Somerville is keeping skincare simple with her kits of best selling facial exfoliating and acne fighting products, ExfoliKate & EradiKate! Personally, my skincare concerns are more the anti-aging and skin tone/complexion variety.  Check out my thoughts on the Face the Glow EradiKate Kit and learn about the brand’s commitment to reducing their footprint and their pledge with the Plastic Oceans Foundation 🌊 #AdvoKate #RethinkPlastic #PlasticOceans

Kate Somerville Face the Glow Kit 2
First off, I would like to thank the brand for sending over this kit, along with a full size ExfoliKate Cleanser Foaming Face Wash for me to try out 😘 I double checked Kate Somerville’s animal testing policy, and according to Phyrra, one of my go-to cruelty free resources, the brand is indeed CRUELTY FREE 💖 Yayyy!  Currently the brand is actually in the process of becoming Leaping Bunny certified and finalizing their list of vegan products 🐰
According to my research all of the items in the Face the Glow EradiKate Kit are vegan, except for the ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment (middle) which does contain honey (mel/miel) 🐝

Face The Glow Kit includes (from the brand’s website):
ExfoliKate® Intensive Exfoliating Treatment (1.7 Fl. Oz.)
Award-winning exfoliating scrub polishes skin for a dramatically smoother, brighter, healthier-looking complexion in just 2 minutes.
ExfoliKate® Cleanser Daily Foaming Wash (1.7 Fl. Oz.)
Gentle foaming cleanser washes away makeup, oil and surface impurities without over-drying for softer, smoother skin.
ExfoliKate® Glow Moisturizer (0.5 Fl. Oz.)
Daily moisturizer instantly reduces the appearance of surface dullness and uneven skin texture to reveal smoother, radiant skin.

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Cleanser

I have really been enjoying the ExfoliKate Cleanser Daily Foaming Wash.  I am a huge fan of glycolic acid as a chemical exfoliant, and with pumpkin, papaya, and pineapple enzymes, the skin is left feeling smooth and supple.  It also contains aloe vera leaf juice, radish root ferment, bergamot fruit oil, rosewood extract, and orange oil 🍊🍍I have been a huge fan of aloe vera leaf juice as an ingredient since it really does provide so many benefits!  Its naturally occurring nutrients help to increase collagen production, moisturize, and balance the skin’s pH.

My sister-in-law, Annie, also tried this cleanser one day to remove her makeup before enjoying some pool time and she loved it!  She doesn’t know it yet, but I am going to gift her the kit since I have more skincare than I know what to do with 😉

Now what really grabbed my attention is Kate Somerville’s new journey with the Plastic Oceans Foundation 🌊

Kate Somerville's quote

Kate Somerville Skincare has made a pledge to use 100% recyclable packaging by 2022.  This includes using alternative materials and post-consumer plastic in their packaging, as well as, removing plastic from the packaging of all kits.
Their commitment goes further than just product packaging.  They are also reducing non-essential single use plastics in the Kate Somerville Skincare Clinic, and eliminating plastics at their head office!  I would LOVE to work for a company that did something like this 💖

It doesn’t end there though!  For every purchase of a Try-Me Kit, Kate Somerville will donate 25% of the sale to Plastic Oceans.  I love working with brands that give back!!! 🤗

The brand is also all about sharing tips on how we, as consumers, can become “AdvoKates” and reduce plastic pollution by making smarter and wiser decisions on a daily basis 🠋🠋🠋 Personally, we have reduced our consumption of single use plastics at home in a few easy ways…no more plastic bottles, utensils or straws…we don’t even use paper plates, napkins or paper towels, and anything that is recyclable goes right into the recycling bin….And there is still so much more we can do!  Just think if everyone did just one thing per day to reduce their plastic pollution?!?!
